Notice of Race

 

1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY

The organizing authority (OA) for this regatta is the Delavan Lake Yacht Club (DLYC)

 

2. RULES

2.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined by the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the prescriptions of the Inland Lakes Yachting Association, and the prescriptions of the C Class Association.

2.2 The two-turns penalty is replaced by the one-turn penalty. This changes RRS 44.1

 

3. ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY

3.1 The regatta is open to all C Class boats.

3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing and mailing in an official entry form available online at www.dlyc.org and www.cscow.org and at the end of this document.

3.3 All entries must be received or postmarked by September 30, 2019 to avoid late penalties. All entries including registration form and payment via check must be mailed. Checks may be made out to DLYC.

3.4 Entry is not complete until entrants have signed the entry form and warranted that no changes to the yacht or its equipment has been made since it was last weighed and certified.

 

4. EVENT FEES

4.1 The entry fee is $65.00

4.2 Entries received after September 30, 2019 will be subject to an additional fee of $10.00.

4.3 The $65.00 entry fee includes skipper and crew lunches. Other purchases including additional lunches and dinners may be noted in the registration form following this document.





 

5. RACING SCHEDULE
5.1 A maximum of five races may be sailed with no more than three races sailed in one day.

5.2 The schedule of racing events is as follows:

Friday, October 11, 2019
5:00PM – 8:00PM Registration and Check-in

  • Registration is not complete until a waiver of liability is signed. Note: You may park your boat on DLYC grounds prior to the event.

  • There will be appetizers and the bar will be open

 

Saturday, October 12, 2019

9:00AM Cutoff for competitor registration.

9:30 Competitors’ briefing.

10:30 1st Warning Signal

  • The time of the warning signal for subsequent races will be posted except when races are sailed back-to-back.

 

Sunday, October 13, 2019

  • Warning Signal to be posted on the Official Notice Board by 6PM Friday.

  • No warning signal will be made after 12:00PM if three races have been completed.

  • Under no conditions will a race be started after 1:00PM on Sunday.

  • Awards ceremony after racing at the DLYC

 

6. LAUNCHING
This is a dry regatta. There are 2 boat ramps and a boat hoist.

 

7. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
RRS Appendix S “Standard Sailing Instructions” shall apply, except as modified by the Supplemental Sailing Instructions (the Supplement). The Supplement will be available before the start of the regatta on the DLYC website under “Regattas.”, during registration at the regatta site, and on the official bulletin board during the regatta. This meets the requirements of RRS 25.

 

8. VENUE
Races will be conducted on the navigable waters of Delavan Lake, WI.

 

9. THE COURSES
The courses will be as specified in RRS Appendix S or as modified in the Supplement.

 

10. SCORING
10.1 Two races are required to be completed to constitute a regatta.

10.2 Each boat's total score will be the sum of her scores for all races. This changes RRS A2.1

 

 

 

 

11. RADIO COMMUNICATION
11.1 The Race Committee will be communicating among themselves and to the fleet before, during, and after racing using VHF radios. The channel for competitors is 72.

11.2 Competitors will be allowed to receive radio communication from the race committee, including notifications at the start of the race. Competitors may not make radio transmissions while on the water except in an emergency or to notify the race committee of withdrawal from the race.

 

12. AWARDS
The trophy presentation will be held on Sunday, October 13th at the Delavan Lake Yacht Club after the last race. Individual race trophies will be awarded along with skipper and crew trophies for the first 5 places in the final standings along with the DLYC C Worlds Perpetual Trophy.

15. TRAILER AND VEHICLE PARKING

Trailer and vehicle parking is available on site.





16. FOOD

Lunches on October 12th and 13th are included in registration fee for both skipper and crew. Additional lunches may be purchased on those days for an additional $8.00. Prices for dinner are stated in section 18 and on the registration form.



17. SPECTATOR BOATS

Spectator boats will be available on a limited basis.



18. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

Music

  • Live band, dancing, and the bar will stay open as necessary

 

  1. MEDIA

Competitors give absolute right and permission for video footage or photographs of themselves or their boat generated during any racing or at any event at the DLYC for the regatta to be published in any media for press, editorial or advertising purposes.

Registration:

Mail-in registration is required. The registration fee includes light breakfast items and two lunches on both Saturday and Sunday. Extra lunches and dinners are available for purchase. We ask that you pre-order with mail-in registration as many of the extra lunches and Saturday dinners as possible so that we have a sufficient supply. We also ask that ALL skippers check in at registration at the DLYC before the racing schedule begins. Checks can be made out to DLYC.
